¡@¡@Mandarin Airlines' board of directors held a meeting on August 18th 2008 and appointed Mr. Harris H. Y. Wang, current president of Mandarin Airlines, to be the new chairman. China Airlines' chairman Philip Wei hosted the hand-over ceremony and gladly pointed out that Mr. Wang with his long-term hard-working experience, serving on various posts in China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines, would surely be an excellent leader to the whole team.
Mandarin Airlines' new chairman Mr. Harris H. Y. Wang said that he felt it a great responsibility to be the chairman at such a time when every airline company was facing big challenges due to high oil price. He would devote himself to ensuring flight safety , encouraging staff's marketing endeavor to achieve good sales result and to assuring the rights and interests of the staff. He hoped Mandarin Airlines could reach the balance financially, and even gain some profits within one year.
Mr. Harris H. Y. Wang has been working in aviation field for over 36 years since 1972 when he started his career in China Airlines as a cargo clerk. He has been the presidents at branch offices in Europe, USA, Hong Kong and Beijing and has deep understanding of the customers' need as well as a broad international perspective. His 6-year working experience in Mainland China will especially help Mandarin Airlines to expand the routes to China in the future. Since November 2005, Mr. Wang has been the president of Mandarin Airlines and has won all staff's love and respect. |

¡@¡@ Mandarin Airlines launched the Taipei-Taitung route on July 31st and the Taipei-Magong route on August 1st. There are two flights on both routes every day. The schedule of the morning and evening flights is well-planned for passengers traveling for fun, family reunion, or on business. The 104-seat E190 and 108-seat FK-100 are now serving these two new routes. The 2 x 2 seating E190 is now Mandarin Airlines' major aircraft, which has received much praise since it joined the service. In total, Mandarin Airlines has introduced seven E190 by August 2008.

¡@¡@ On July 31st, Mandarin Airlines held a tea party on the 2nd floor of Fong-Nien Airport, to celebrate the launching of Taipei-Taitung route and to present a public welfare event. Donation envelopes will be placed on the planes of Taipei-Taitung route from July 31st to December 31st 2008 to collect money for Genesis Social Welfare Foundation to establish Taitung branch in order to help more PVS patients from the poor families. Following the same format, money collected from January 1st to June 30th 2009 will go to Taitung St. Mary's Hospital; and money collected from July 1st to December 31st 2009 will go to Holy Cross Nursing Home at Guanshan. In addition, it was announced at the party that before December 31st 2008, with every Taipei-Taitung ticket sold, Mandarin Airlines will donate 10 NT dollars to the three above mentioned organizations to help more Taitung people in need. |
