Mandarin Airlines offers special assistance for passengers who require it. We recommend that you have reservation earlier to enable us having enough time for necessary arrangements. Please read the information below and contact us if you need to book any of the services.

 
Infant

 

A healthy newborn infant is ready to travel with us after 14 days of delivery provided traveling with an accompanying adult. When 1 infant is traveling with 1 adult passenger, the infant is required to pay infant fare. However, in the case of 1 adult passenger traveling with 2 infants, the second infant must be seated in an extra seat installed with an approved car type seat, and applicable child fare will be applied.
 
Expectant Mother
 

We will accept expectant mother to travel Mandarin Airlines flight without a medical certificate up to the end of their 32 weeks of pregnancy or confinement is not expected in less than 8 weeks.

In addition to the completion of ¡§Release and Indemnity¡¨ form, we also require that ¡§Medical Certificate for Air Travel¡¨ must be filled out and signed by an obstetrician within 7 days prior to commencement of travel for any expectant mother whose due date is within 4 to 8 weeks.

The Medical Certificate must certify:
 
  • The fitness for the trip on the desired date and portion of the flight.
  • The expected delivery date of the baby and special points to be observed during the flight.
 

In principle, during the last 4 weeks of pregnancy prior to confinement, an expectant mother cannot be accepted as a passenger on Mandarin Airlines flight.

Medical clearance is not required but because of risk of hemorrhage, Mandarin Airlines will not carry a new mother within 14 days after her delivery.

Some countries have stipulated different regulations for the limitation of expectant mother's arrival. We recommend you check travel requirements with the local diplomatic mission of your destination country before your travel.
 
Wall-mounted Bassinet (not applicable for E190 aircraft)
 

We offer bassinets, which can be plugged-in on the bulkhead wall at designated positions where special fitting is available. The fitting positions are various for different aircraft type, Please note that there are some weight and height restrictions for load your infant in our wall-mounted bassinet. For more details please contact our Reservation Office.

Due to the limited number of fitting positions for wall-mounted bassinets, we recommend that you request for a bassinet upon booking to assure easy travel with your infants. Besides, please note that the wall-mounted bassinets will be provided on a ¡§first come, first serve¡¨ basis
 
Unaccompanied Minors
 

For the times when your child has to travel alone, be rest assured that they are in safe hands with our Unaccompanied Minors Service. This service is accorded to our young customers between the ages of 5 years and under 12 years when they travel without their parents or guardians aged 18 years and above.

The parents or legal guardian must sign ¡§Consent & Release for Carriage of Unaccompanied Minors¡¨ while applying Unaccompanied Minors Service.

Service charges for Unaccompanied Minors vary from age to age, and Unaccompanied Minors always apply Adult fare. Reservation for Unaccompanied Minors travel should be made at least 72 hours in advance. Please note that Unaccompanied Minors under 8 years of age shall not be accepted to travel on First, Dynasty and Dynasty Supreme classes. Infant seat (not applicable for E190 aircraft)
 

Customer wishes to use an infant seat in-flight, ticket must be purchased at the applicable fare and a seat must be reserved for the infant (child).

Only forward-facing seats approved by a foreign airworthiness authority/government (for e.g. UK CAA, FAA, or ECE) or manufactured under the standards of the United Nations are allowed. The manufacturing standards and instructions must be provided by the customer and made available to ground staff and crew for reference.

The seat must be secured onto the aircraft passenger seat by means of the aircraft safety belt at all times whether infant occupied or unoccupied.
 
Stretcher
 

Mandarin Airlines provides stretcher service (charges apply) on aircraft (except Boeing 737-800 and Fokker100) for individuals who must remain in a reclined position during the flight. In such a case, medical case shall always be applied, needing ¡§Medical Certificate for Air Travel¡¨ form signed by licensed doctor. In addition, ¡§Release and Indemnity¡¨ form is essential in this case as well.

The stretcher passenger must be accompanied by at least one able-bodied adult attendant (preferably a medical doctor or a nurse) to provide en route care. The attendant must occupy a seat next to the stretcher passenger.

Please note that stretcher passenger will be accommodated only in the Economy Class cabin, and the service charge varies from aircraft type to aircraft type.

As the stretcher will need to be set up and installed on the flight from Taiwan, please contact Mandarin Airlines Reservation Office at least 10days before your scheduled flight departure so that we have sufficient time for the set up process..
 
Oxygen (not applicable for E190 aircraft)
 

Oxygen for therapeutic or medical purposes is available on Mandarin Airlines flights in cylinders provided by us. We levy a service charge, payable prior to departure. Please contact our Reservation Office for more service charge details.

Please note that we cannot accept oxygen cylinders brought on by passengers themselves for safety reasons. Since oxygen for therapeutic or medical reasons is considered a medical product, we require that you provide us with a copy of a ¡§Medical Certificate for Air Travel¡¨ signed by licensed doctor. In such a case, ¡§Release and Indemnity¡¨ form is essential as well.

Passengers who need oxygen service must be accompanied by at least one able-bodied adult attendant (preferably a medical doctor or a nurse), who provides en route care. The attendant must occupy a seat next to the passenger. Reservation for the oxygen service shall be made at least 10days to flight scheduled departure time. Cancellation for the provision of oxygen must be made prior to departure and our reservations office must be notified, otherwise the charge will be non-refundable even if the oxygen remains unused.

Oxygen service is free of charge for passengers who also need stretcher service.

 
Wheelchair
 

Following passengers may request wheelchair service during his or her travel.

  • Elderly passengers
  • Passengers with disabilities or difficult to walk
  • Passengers with medical conditions.
 

Passengers need wheelchair service shall advise our Reservation Office of his or her physical status, including the ability to walk, up-stairs and needing assistance during flight or not. If passenger's physical status applies to medical case, ¡§Medical Certificate for Air Travel¡¨ signed by licensed doctor and ¡§Release and Indemnity¡¨ form will be essential.

We will carry your traditional or electric wheelchair for free of charge, providing it is securely packaged and passengers need it during travel.

 
Meals Request
 

For passengers with special dietary requirements due to medical or religious reasons, we offer a wide selection of special meals that will meet your needs. Please place your order at least 24 hours before the flight departure through our Reservation Office or your travel agent. You can also make a Special Meal request when you purchase your tickets online through our website.

For flights departing to and from Taichung (RMQ), the Special Meal menu is limited to certain meal types. Please definitely contact our Reservation Office rather than general travel agencies.

 
Pets
 

Carriage of pets in the aircraft cabin is not permitted, with the exception of seeing-eye dog and dog trained to assist the deaf passenger.

Pets other than seeing-eye dog and dog trained to assist the deaf passenger- together with their containers - will be treated as excess baggage and charged accordingly before being transported to the cargo hold.

If your pet needs to travel with you, please ensure that you have the following documents ready:
  • Valid export/import permits from the relevant governments of your destination/transit countries.
  • Valid entry permits, health and rabies vaccination certificates from appropriate government authorities of your destination/transit countries.
  • Any additional or special documents that may be required by governments of your destination/transit countries.
 

Please also ensure that your pet meets the appropriate quarantine requirements. Your pet may be subjected to quarantine on arrival at your expense. The quarantine period may vary at the discretion of your destination.

Seeing-eye dog is normally regarded as carry-on baggage and will be carried without charge, in addition to the passenger's free baggage allowance. The dog will not be occupying a seat and must not be seated in a location that would block escape routes in the event of an emergency.

When your pet is accepted as checked baggage, ¡§Limited Release¡§ tag shall be attached on the container and ¡§Release and Indemnity¡¨ form shall be signed by the owner-passenger.

e recommend the owner-passenger shall check-in at the airport with the pet at least 2 hours prior to flight departure to give sufficient time for proper departure processing.
