At 1049 AM, on January 28 2006, the inaugural charted Chinese New Year flight of Mandarin Airlines to Xiamen landed on the Xiamen Airport with its 168 passengers on board. This is the first Mandarin Airlines aircraft decorated with the “Hai Dong Qing” symbol that reach Xiamen, and the city welcomed and celebrated this visit with a passionate ceremony. The Chairman of Mandarin Airlines, Michael Lo, who flied together with the inaugural flight, made a speech in the ceremony, saying that “When I see the symbol of Mandarin Airlines appeared in the Xiamen Airport for the first time, I fell nice and warm in my heart. I hope that we can use aircrafts as bridges, to strengthen the connections across the Strait”.

　　Mandarin Airlines carried out this Chinese New Year charted flight with a Boeing 737-800 that can carry 168 passengers on board. Captain Wei Li Wang and CP Yi Ru Chen, in their interview by the local journalists, also expressed that they felt friendly, and that although they only “spent their Chinese New Year” in Xiamen for one hour, they have already been affected by the profound friendliness of the Xiamen people.
