As one of the chartered flights across Taiwan Strait during the Chinese New Year, Xiamen Airlines launched its inaugural flight from Xiamen to Kaohsiung on January 25, 2006. Mandarin Airlines acted as agent for Xiamen Airlines in the Kaohsiung International Airport for all services. For that reason, the former also held a cocktail reception party for the latter for this historical inaugural flight. The inaugural flight landed on the Kaohsiung International Airport at 09:30 AM. This is the first time Xiamen Airlines flied across the Strait to Taiwan. The Chairman of Mandarin Airlines, Michael Lo, the President, Harris H. Y. Wang, and many honorable guests from the local aviation and travel industry met and greeted the inaugural flight personally in the air bridge. The hostesses of Mandarin Airlines also presented bouquets to the Chairman of Xiamen Airlines, Di Sheng Hong, the captain and the CP to show their welcome. The reception was filled with a merry and alive atmosphere.

　　In the reception party, Chairman Hong also presented a miniature aircraft, decorated with the “egret” sign that symbolizes Xiamen Airlines, to Mandarin Airlines for their arrangement of ground services. Chairman Lo of Mandarin Airlines returned with a FRANZ “Butterfly Orchid” porcelain vase that symbolizes Taiwan, to congratulate the inaugural flight for its safety and wellness. Mandarin Airlines also sent 7 air hostesses to be taken photos together with the crews of the inaugural flight of Xiamen Airlines. All raised their glasses of champagne to celebrate the success of the inaugural flight, and to leave valuable pictures for this historical moment.
